After a humbling loss on Thursday, the Reeths-Puffer hockey team bounded back on Friday with a dominating 8-0 victory over the Lakeshore Badgers.
Jaxon Stone led the way with two goals and two assists, Vincent Pollock added two goals, Tyler Tindall recorded three assists and Kaeden Benner had two.
R-P led 3-0 after the first period on goals from Eli Cuti, Connor Stawski and Stone.
The Rockets kept up the goal parade in the second period, with Carson Harwood, Ricky Wiggins, Stone and Pollock finding the net.
R-P was able to end the game by the mercy rule 2:47 seconds into the third period with another goal by Pollock.
Goalie Mark Stewart had the shutout in his first varsity start, making 11 saves.
“It was good to be able to rebound quickly after yesterday’s loss,” said R-P Coach Ryan Martin. “We were missing three players due to illness or injury, so to be able to play well and get Mark a shutout in his first varsity start is exciting.”
Reeths-Puffer is now 4-3 on the season.
